The Foundation considers its involvement a contribution to and offer of a forum for a critical and open-ended culture of dialogue. It realises its purpose in a concrete fashion, through the sponsorship of interdisciplinary and inter-religious projects in the areas of academic research and teaching, as well as in practical applications of this knowledge. The Udo Keller Foundation sponsors individuals and projects which courageously break down the boundaries created by different disciplines, religious denominations and cultural entities.

The Foundation is involved in sponsorship – but also carries out its own designated projects at its headquarters in Neversdorf near Hamburg. Its sponsorship policy is philanthropic in the classic sense of the word: the Foundation does not limit its involvement to the financial side of a project, but instead helps its partners to attain a high level of excellence in these very projects. It doesn’t support these projects in an isolated fashion, but instead brings the partners together to engage in a mutual dialogue to inspire their work under the ”roof” of common fundamental questions on meaning:
Where do I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going?
